Drabbles!

Eh? What's a 'drabble' when it's at home, then? Well, it's a piece of fiction that's exactly 100 words long (excluding the title, rating, summary and 'The End'). I was introduced to them by the wonderfully prolific SuzVoy one of the best (and the fastest) writers I know :D Check out Suz's stories/drabbles - she'll make you cry, then she'll make you laugh, then she'll make you cry again.

1. "To Distraction"

Chakotay has the hiccups and it's driving Kathryn nuts!

2. "Why Have Cotton When You Can Have Silk?"

They're back from New Earth, just Captain & First Officer once more, but Chakotay already misses being close to Kathryn. Luck be a careless lady ;)

3. "I Have Become Comfortably Numb"

I blame this on 'Pink Floyd', TPTB's 5th Season KJ and the angsty 'Queens of Darkness' in my JetC groups. Lyrics by Roger Waters.

4. "Open Mouth, Insert Foot"

'Dark Frontier' was a very good episode, but several inconsistant plot devices - including a major character behaviour cock-up on Janeway (and some might even say on Chakotay, too), spoilt it a little for me. Still, I can turn it to my J/C advantage!

5. "Cinderella-Rockafellar"

3rd season Voyager when they were allowed to flirt and tease - and it was a joy to watch.

These are addictive! More to come, as and when I can get on my 'puter, but I'm still determind to finish DOWAR soon :D

"Chakokay, will you *please* go to sickbay?!

"Aye, Captain. I'll just finish this report, first."

Paris swivelled in his helm-chair, "Try holding your breath and counting to a hundred."

"That never works," Harry piped up, "You need to drink a glass of water and stand on one leg."

"And hum a tune at the same time." giggled B'Elanna.

Tuvok raised a mystified eyebrow, "Highly illogical."

"I concur," Seven interjected, "However, species 1147 had great success in treating hiccups by means of distraction and shock."

"Really?" leaning over, Kathryn kissed Chakotay passionately and whispered, "I love You."

Blessed silence.

Emptying out his bag, Chakotay sifted the pile looking for clean socks and underwear. Suddenly, his fingers encountered something silky soft as his eyes registered pink and lacey.

"What the.....?!"

How the hell had a pair of Kathryn's clean panties found their way into his bag? Hmmmm, their bags were identical..... that must be it.

A lascivious grin lit his face. Maybe there was a way he could feel close to her, after all?

Gliding onto the Bridge, Chakotay took his seat beside Kathryn.

"Everything go okay, Commander..... all settled in?"

"As smooth as silk, Captain..... as smooth as silk."

"When, then?"

I look up, see what I expect to see; a man with a child in his eyes.

"Soon, Chakotay. Soon."

"That's what you said an hour ago. Please..... just one dance?"

I sway in his arms, my eyes tell me that we're touching, but I can't seem to feel anything.

When I was a child, I had a fever.
My hands felt just like two balloons,
Now I've got that feeling once again.
I can't explain,
You would not understand.
This is not how I am,
I have become comfortably numb.

While Kathryn and Harry admired the shiny 'techie stuff' from the Borg vessel, Chakotay fondly watched her every move.

Suddenly, he saw something that made his blood run cold: Kathryn was fiddling with her Commbadge.

"Maybe I should go to Red Alert, Kathryn?"

"Pardon?"

"You're about to drop a bombshell. Fiddling with your combadge is a dead giveaway, you do it every time."

Her smile froze and he saw two huge tears glisten in her eyes before she stormed out, shouting, "I'll be in my cabin, in the dark, for the next 53 days!"

"Oh, nice one, Chuckles!" groaned Harry.

"Oh, no!"

Chakotay hurried to her bedroom door, "Captain? Everything alright?"

The door opened to reveal a hand holding a strappy shoe, "Can you fix this? It's my last pair and I've no credits."

By the time Kathryn reappeared - looking stunning in a short, black dress - there was a newly replicated pair of shoes waiting for her.

"Oh, Chakotay, you shouldn't have! I could have worn my uniform."

"And deprived me of those gorgeous legs?"

Blushing like a schoolgirl, she slipped on the shoes and made a silent vow. He'd never, ever know that he'd replicated for two left feet.
